The Scottish Beaver Trial
The staggered release of 16 animals into the Knapdale area of Argyll has been hailed as an outstanding success.
We now know for certain that beavers can live and breed in Scotland, and over the course of the 5 year trial, the beavers did what beavers do: built dams, felled trees and made canals.
Following completion of the trial, Environment Minister Dr Aileen McLeod paused to consider the future of beavers in Scotland. A decision was expected in late 2015.
